Still She Finds Light

24 x 30 • Deep Edge Gallery Wrapped Canvas Oil & Mixed Media

This has been one of the most emotional painting I’ve created to date.

It began with layers of crackle paste, fractured textures, darkness, and uncertainty. As the painting evolved, I continued building layer upon layer, light over shadow, hope over despair, strength over brokenness. In many ways, the process mirrored the story I was trying to tell.

Living with chronic illness means waking up each day in a body that often feels at war with itself. Pain, limitations, uncertainty, and loss are constant companions. There are days when simply showing up requires more courage than anyone can see.

Yet somehow, even in the darkest moments, light still finds a way through.

The cracks become places where light enters. The broken places become evidence of survival. The darkness remains part of the story, but it is no longer the whole story.

This painting is not about perfection. It is about resilience.

It is about choosing hope when circumstances offer none. It is about finding beauty in what has been broken. It is about continuing to reach for light, even when life feels impossibly heavy.

My hope is that wherever you are in your own journey, this piece reminds you that your story is not defined by your hardest chapter. The light is still there. Sometimes hidden. Sometimes faint. But still present.

And perhaps the most powerful thing we can do is keep turning toward it.
