Being grounded doesn’t mean life around you is peaceful. Sometimes it means standing firmly in who you are while everything around you feels anything but.
In Grounded, the bison became a symbol of strength through the chaos not fighting against every storm or pretending it isn’t there, but planting your feet and holding steady while it moves around you.
Prairie grasses gathered from my property in Montana are incorporated directly into the painting, allowing the bison to emerge from the land beneath him. That connection became part of the meaning itself: rooted to the earth, grounded in strength, steady through the chaos.
Perhaps resilience doesn’t always mean charging forward or having everything figured out.
Sometimes, it simply means standing.
