There are times in life when moving forward can feel like moving through stone—when the weight is heavy, the path isn’t clear, and strength doesn’t necessarily look like fearlessness. Sometimes, strength simply looks like continuing to emerge.
Emergence grew from that idea.
The grizzly takes shape from the mountain itself, his form becoming part of the stone surrounding him. He has not passed through it untouched; instead, what he has moved through has become part of who he is. Still powerful. Still present. Still emerging.
To me, this painting is about resilience not coming through life unchanged, but continuing to find our way through whatever stands before us.
