Color Finds You
Still in Color series
Mixed media oil on gallery-wrapped canvas
20 × 24 inches | 1.5-inch deep painted edges
This painting began during a stretch when pain was keeping me away from my easel more than I wanted. In those quieter days, I kept noticing the color around me: the flowers in my garden, the bees we keep, and all these little bursts of beauty showing up anyway.
And I kept thinking… even when I can’t go looking for joy, somehow color finds me.
When I made it back to the easel, all of that came with me. A tiger emerged through layers of expressive color, with flowers, bees and honeycomb tucked throughout the texture. I let some of those elements remain bold while others nearly disappear into the layers, waiting to be discovered.
Maybe that’s what I love most about color. It doesn’t ask whether life is easy before it shows up.
It just finds you.
This original is painted on a 1.5-inch deep gallery-wrapped canvas with painted edges and is ready to hang.
